In the labyrinth of the Diers

The trek to the Dieri and Bosco di Baulì leads in the heart of a hidden Sicily, where wild nature intertwines with ancient traces of rock life. Between paths immersed in greenery and caves carved into the rock, the route offers an authentic experience, made of silences, views and memory. A journey that combines beauty, history and contemplation.

Trekking Dieri and Bosco di Baulì

Come with us to discover a pristine paradise such as the Dieri and the Bosco di Baulì, one of the oldest woods in Sicily that preserves the famous Dieri, rock environments connected by stairs and tunnels entirely dug into the rocky walls of the canyon. Dating back to several centuries ago, the forest of Baulì is the perfect example of how originally the forest environment was not only on the Iblean plateau but on the entire island.

The hiking trail winds through this fairytale forest made of oaks, oaks and black poplars that gradually thickens more and more into the Baulì quarry, where the homonymous stream flows through the wild nature. Along the valley path you can see higher than the caves dug in the rocky walls, apparently inaccessible, here you can see the Dier of Baulì a real fortified prehistoric settlement that over the centuries has been home to several populations.

With our guides you can visit in addition to the wonderful undergrowth rich in biodiversity also the three different rock settlements, composed of the Great Dier, the Little Dier and the Hermit Dier discovering the beauty of these hidden places, living an exciting, relaxing and even adventurous experience.
