Where the Strait of Messina ends and the mountains begin, between the blue of Ionian and Tyrrhenian, begins a territory little known and surprising: the Peloritani Mountains. This mountain range marks the beginning of the Sicilian Apennines, with deep valleys, panoramic ridges and an ancient ridge that combines past, nature and silence. Here you can walk along ancient paths, between sea and sky, woods and valleys, discovering a different Sicily. Rougher. Truer.
Just get away a bit from Messina to find yourself immersed in a completely different world: panoramic ridges, solitary paths, scent of Mediterranean scrub and views that open onto two seas. The Peloritani Mountains are a continuous surprise, perfect for those who love walking off course, among wild nature, hidden history and authentic silences.
Extended for over 65 km, it is a fascinating ridge that combines two seas, two slopes and two souls of Sicily: the wild one of the Apennines and the bright one of the coasts. From here begins one of the most suggestive paths of the island: the Trail of the Two Seas, which crosses the entire ridge, connecting panoramic peaks, deep valleys, Mediterranean woods and still uncontaminated landscapes.
Walking along the historic Dorsale dei Peloritani, an ancient dirt road that runs through the entire chain, means diving into a world suspended between the sky and the sea, where the view ranges from Ionian to Tyrrhenian and the tracks follow ancient traces, between ridges, stoneworks and woods
Quiet. Our treks in this area touch spectacular panoramic points such as Monte Dinnammare, Monte Scuderi, Pizzo Croce, Serro del Capitano and other less beaten but full of charm.
We pass by deep rivers, hidden ruins, historical locations and natural areas of great value, where biodiversity meets the harsh and authentic landscape of northeastern Sicily. Between the woods and silences, trekking on the Peloritani tell a less known Sicily but perhaps even more true.
Here every path is an invitation to discovery, every step a connection with the earth and its history. Pick your path with us, pack your backpack, and the rest you'll find out by walking. We're waiting for you on the Peloritans.
